Next Generation Talent
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Talent Development program has a rich legacy, which began in 1971, when Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men" set out to create a unique opportunity to train next-generation artists under the guidance and mentorship of Disney Animation legends.
Our intern and apprentice programs focus on connecting our Studio and craft to the next generation. We build on our legacy through continued exploration, innovation, and collaboration in a real-time, mentor-mentee relationship centered around our craft.

Show only your best work! Tailor your work to the discipline you’re applying for, showcasing your versatility and originality. Your social media is a great supplement, but shouldn’t be the portfolio itself.

Our recruiters review every application!
- For Production opportunities, reviews with mentors start immediately after the application deadline. The entire process usually takes 1–2 months.
- For Technology and Studio opportunities, reviews are done on an ongoing basis until a candidate is selected, so be sure to apply if you’re interested!
Yes! Create separate portfolios for each and curate to the opportunity, showing off your versatility & originality!
Disney Animation's Trainee program is an immersive experience into our production pipeline, tools, craft, and studio culture. Throughout the program, you'll be guided by mentors who will focus on your skill sets and areas of growth. In addition to assignments, you'll build relationships with others in the program and meet leaders, artists and technologists across the studio.
Follow the submission formats from the job posting. Websites should be easy to navigate and curated for consideration, and if a password is required, be sure to include it!
Check each job posting for details on eligibility, as it varies per role.
Your voice and perspective help a reel or portfolio stand out! Be intentional with the work you submit.
Internships are generally posted late fall through spring. Trainee opportunities are posted throughout the year, based on production needs. Check back often!
