DISNEY ANIMATION
DISNEY ANIMATION CAREERS
I started at Disney Animation back in February 2013 as a General Technical Director Trainee, as part of the Talent Development Program. It's a program for any recent grads that want to grow in their craft with the guidance of mentors. I met a lot of great people through that program and learned so much.
I look for whether the person has worked in group projects or jobs like teaching assistant, tutor, or some kind of job with user interaction; this shows me that the person can collaborate and likes to work with people, is a people person and/or can be a good team player. A big part of a Technical Director's day-to-day at Disney Animation is communication/collaboration to solve technical challenges.
I like working at Disney Animation because I like being part of creating something that touches people's hearts all over the world.
Never stop learning, have fun, and be kind (--people remember this the most when working with you.)
The Disney character I connect with most is Moana so far; she is a strong woman that finds her way. When I saw her character design, I was so happy because representation matters a lot to me. Also, a funny thing is they used my eyes as a reference for how to light her eyes.
I was born in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, but I grew up in the Bronx, New York! When first moving to LA, it was a big culture shock to me. It's so different. I still get excited when I meet people from New York here!
