Spectral and Decomposition Tracking for Rendering Heterogeneous Volumes

We present two complementary, unbiased techniques for sampling free paths in heterogeneous, chromatic participating media: decomposition tracking for reducing costs and spectral tracking for reducing variance. We formulate our new techniques in the context of a mathematical framework novel to computer graphics, derived directly from the radiative transfer equation.
