Tonic

A character has hundreds of thousands of hairs that need to be stylized, but it is impractical to design a groom at the individual hair level. This led to the creation of Tonic, a procedural hair grooming tool. Using hierarchical volumes, artists can groom a character's hairstyle and then procedurally populate those volumes with individual hair strands.

Tonic's volume-based editing and proceduralism has the additional benefit of making hair workflows more robust to artistic changes, allowing artists to make incremental edits and significantly increase the overall iteration speed.
